I am a Native of Gulfport MS. I am raised partially in Chicago Illinois and the South. I am a survivor of Gun shot that took the life of my daughter father. I was shot while I was 6 months pregnant. I have overcome two prison sentences and graduated from College with a 3.5 GPA after obtaining my GED in prison. I am a Licensed Chef. I have created the. Starte Thomas Runaway Prevention Program LLC and the Starte Thomas Change for Hope. I am a mother of four children one deceased. I teach overdose prevention in the community and I am a strong advocate against sex trafficking.

I assist with Runaway Prevention and I am a strong community activist around my job. I overcame domestic violence, poverty and survived the streets of Chicago after being a standing member of the Gangster disciple organization for years. I am a Student of Islam. I wrote the book to shed light on the oppression of African American men and women in the late 80s and 90’s and the struggle we went through trying to be productive members in society. The book is to awaken the mindset of the community to Understand the power of God and the power of the will to change
